Fabric cuts: yards, bolts, half rolls, and rolls

What a bolt, half roll, and full roll mean, and who orders each.

We sell fabric in two ways depending on whether you're shopping retail or wholesale.

Retail — by the yard. You choose any number of yards and we cut it continuously from the roll. This is how everyone shops unless they have an approved wholesale account.

Wholesale — by the cut. Approved wholesale customers order in standard trade cuts:

Cut

Typical length

Notes

Bolt

15 yards

Can range 10–19 yards

Half roll

25 yards

Can range 20–35 yards

Full roll

50 yards

Can range 45–55 yards

Why the ranges? Rolls are produced as continuous runs, so exact lengths vary slightly. We can't cut a roll to an exact custom number without creating unusable leftover pieces — if you need an exact amount, order that amount retail by the yard.

Each cut is priced as that cut. If you want 50 yards split into bolts or half rolls, it's ordered and priced as bolts or half rolls rather than as a single full roll.

The smallest wholesale cut is one bolt (15 yards).

Wholesale order minimum. Your first wholesale order has a 30-yard minimum (2 bolts). Every order after that has a 1-bolt (15-yard) minimum.
